The Robertsons' story charitable gift annuities
The Robertsons' support of Campus Crusade is a family affair. It all started with Mary, the family matriarch.
Mary was in her 90s when she started exploring how she could continue to support the advancement of the Gospel, while still having enough income for living expenses. She was delighted to discover that The Great Commission Foundation could help her.
We explained charitable gift annuities to her. Her estate-design specialist explained that by setting one up, she could:
- Protect herself from the turbulent economy with consistent annual income.
- Secure a higher rate of return than a certificate of deposit or other conservative investments.
- Deduct a portion of the gift from her taxable income. She would also receive a portion of the future income-tax free.
All of this while supporting Campus Crusade's mission.
This was extremely enticing to Mary. She spent the next 3 years creating 6 annuities valued at a total of $365,000.
When Mary died, her children were amazed by the impact that she had made in people's lives. They began to invest their money in charitable gift annuities as well.
In a little over 3 years, her son Gary and daughter Linda set up charitable gift annuities valued at $255,000 and $80,000, respectively.
Through The Great Commission Foundation, Mary's family contributed $700,000 to the work of the Kingdom.
